Ben Palmer

I grew up in Portland, Oregon. As a young boy I spent every summer camping with my grandparents.  They had this beautiful 1971 International Harvester Travelall that we would put our car top boat on and tow our little 21-foot Shasta camper over to Central Oregon.  I spent what felt like my entire childhood in the back of that Travelall and loved every minute.  My grandparents passed away during my teenage years and my family regrettably sold the Travelall and camper set up.  I didn’t care much about it then, but those years spent in that Travelall would go on to steer my passions and shape the better part of my life.

After highschool I attended the University of Oregon and graduated with a science degree.    During college I worked as an independent auto dealer buying and selling cars out of my apartment to help pay for my college education.  After college I began my career in the automotive corporate sector working for some of the largest manufacturers.  In 2018, after three decades, I made a decision to finally be done with corporate America and put my time into creating my passion project, 406 Garage.

I have always loved to tinker on old trucks out of my shop as a hobby.  I specifically have always loved Internationals.  As years went on with my day job I realized I wanted to spend more time with my kids and working from home in my shop would allow me to do that. I’ve been very fortunate and blessed to have amazing customers since I opened the doors of 406 Garage .  As we continue to grow each year, I’m very thankful for each and every one of them. You know the old saying goes “If you love what you do and you do what you love it doesn’t feel like a day at work ever”. I believe I live that life every day and I’m very blessed to do so.

GOT AN INTERNATIONAL PROJECT TO MOVE?

We buy, sell, and consign classic IH trucks and Scouts. Skip the tire-kickers — sell it with the pros.
