Vehicle Overview
This is a all original D1200 that started life as a 2wd pickup. It is original paint and interior, it is a 2 owner truck that was sold new in Hamilton Montana. When we got it , it had low compression on 2 cylinders, so we elected to take out the 345 and install a low mileage 392. It has factory power steering and power brakes. Then we converted the truck to 4wd using a 1975 IH dana 44 front axle with disc brakes. The rear axle was an open diff dana 60, so we swapped that for a 14 bolt FF with lsd. Matching 4:10 gears front and rear. We then took trans out and put in a new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. Replaced all 3 drivelines and ujoints all new. The truck has new fluids front to back everything was changed out. The engine received a full re-seal , new fuel pump and rebuilt factory holley 4 barrel carburetor. We then did new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Flushed both fuel tanks, new lines, new sending units and rebuilt fuel selector switch. New thermostat and water pump. Re-sealed manifolds and all new 2.75″ exhaust with flowmaster mufflers and true crossover pipe. It also received new interstate battery , rebuilt factory starter and cables. Then it was onto the suspension. New bilstein 5150 shocks, new ubolts and hardware, factory IH 3/4T springs and blocks. Brakes got new soft lines and hard lines, rebuilt master cylinder. Front brakes at 80% rears at 90%. all lights and gauges have been gone through and everything works as it should, heater even blows on all settings and is hot. Firewall and headliner were sound deadened by previous owner. We did do a couple small floor and kick panel repairs where there was alittle surface bubbles starting to show. Tires, brand new BFG 255-85-16 KM3s , wrapped around factory steel wheels, freshly sand blasted and powder coated. New brass valve stems installed and a set of factory NOS hubcaps to complete the look. The bed is straight and rust free but has surface rust, so we elected to do a spray in bed liner , under the rails to make it last forever. Lastly we had our body and paint guy, wet sand, hand polish and ceramic coat the paint to preserve the patina and look. This is a very well sorted truck that would make anyone proud at cars and coffee. Over 200 man hours of work went into this truck, it is NOT a restoration, rather a preservation and made to be reliable and easier on maintenance for the future. You wont be disappointed.
